Sunset

2013 3rd-4th Grade Poetry Honorable Mention

I make trees
look like zippers
because
of my shadows,
I make clouds
look like marshmallows
so the angels above can have a snack
while they’re watching, guarding us.
I make some trees
look like dainty
spider webs
glistening in my rays.
I am the exact color of rage
revenge
anger
but,
when you see me
you’ll feel relaxed
and want to watch me
being gobbled up by the big
white bowl
of milk -
moon splash -
yet you know
it’s time to go home.
I am a big nest burning
so the new phoenix can be born;
I am a sunset
