Renovation Project Gallery

Project Plan

This renovation will allow the Library to enhance its vision of an expanded community for all who value books and the written word. Most important, a phased construction process will allow the Library to remain open and operational throughout the project.

Rear Yard

Our plans include a dedicated onsite, easily accessible storage space with 5,400 linear feet of shelving for semi-rare books and folios. This secure, climate-controlled structure will eliminate the need for offsite storage. The Library’s entire collection will remain in one location.

Fourth Floor

The project will renew and reconfigure the fourth floor of the building to create a flexible space for study and events, a new rare book reading room, and a modern conservation studio.

Staff Workspace

Critical to the Library’s future will be a thoroughly renovated, purpose-built floor for staff. Comfortable workstations, an open seating plan, and a new conference room will facilitate collaboration among various departments and help the Library retain and recruit talented, dedicated staff.
