Jane O'Connor, Sunday Soirée with Fancy Nancy - Fully Registered

Sunday, November 23, 2014 - 3:00 PM | Members' Room | For Members and Their Guests | Age 3 and Older | $5 per person payable at the door

Fancy Nancy is a young girl with a larger-than-life personality, who adores all things fancy. She dresses extravagantly—wearing boas, tutus, ruby slippers, fairy wings, and fuzzy slippers—and loves using big words and saying anything in French. Nancy nearly gets caught up in the glitter but, in the end, always discovers what is truly important.

First published in 2005, Fancy Nancy spent nearly 100 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and launched a series that now numbers more than 60 books. Fancy Nancy has been on Publishers Weekly’s bestseller list for picture books, was a Junior Library Guild Selection, and has been translated into 18 languages. In 2012, Nancy was featured in her first chapter book, Nancy Clancy: Super Sleuth, and Fancy Nancy the Musical was produced by Vital Theatre Company in New York City.

Please put on your favorite party clothes and join us for a Sunday soirée—that’s a fancy word for a party—featuring author Jane O’Connor, who will share stories, activities, art and more. “Little girls, like boys, like to be noticed,” notes O’Connor. “Dressing up makes them feel like they’re big and important—and very glamorous, of course.”
