Project Cicero Book Drive 2017

Monday, February 27, 2017

On March 11 and 12, over 1200 New York City public school teachers will spend part of their weekend cultivating their classroom library collections. These dedicated teachers will come to a hotel ballroom overflowing with children’s and young adult books donated to Project Cicero during our annual book drive.

Project Cicero—named after the first-century Roman statesman, writer, orator, philosopher, and creator of libraries, Marcus Tullius Cicero—has been boosting the collections in school and classroom libraries in under-resourced NYC public schools for more than a decade. Now in its 17th year, Project Cicero has placed almost 3 million books in 15,000 classrooms, reaching more than 650,000 children.

The Library is a proud participant in and sponsor of Project Cicero, and we need your help! Please donate new or gently used children’s and young adult books at the Library from Wednesday, March 1 through Wednesday, March 8. For more information please visit the Project Cicero website, including our Wish List. Every donation helps this worthy and literary cause.
