NYC's Young Readers Need Your Help

Monday, February 23, 2015

On March 7 and 8, over one thousand New York City public school teachers will spend part of their weekend cultivating their classroom library collections. These dedicated teachers will come to a hotel ballroom overflowing with children’s and young adult books donated to Project Cicero during our annual book drive. Upon arrival, teachers will browse the diverse selection to choose the books their students need, want, and will come to love as growing readers.

Project Cicero—named after the first century Roman statesman, writer, orator, philosopher, and creator of libraries, Marcus Tullius Cicero—has been boosting the collections in school and classroom libraries in under-resourced NYC public schools for more than a decade. Now in its 15th year, Project Cicero has placed over 2.2 million books in 12,000 classrooms, reaching more than 500,000 children.
